First Trip for New Blue Line

Cars!

by Mark Murphy.

At 11:35 A.M. on February 20, 2008, the MBTA sent its newest fleet of Blue Line subway cars, manufactured by Siemens. out to Aquarium station, the site of the ribbon-cutting ceremonies. There, the public was allowed to ride these cars for the first time.

At Orient Heights...with the motorman waiting for his cue. Time to head back! It's official! The New Blue Line Cars are in Service!

The Siemens #5 cars as they pass through Orient Heights, on their way to the ribbon-cutting ceremonies at  Aquarium station. A final departing shot as the train leaves Orient Heights without stopping...

Most recently, the MBTA has been testing more of these new cars; expect to see them over the coming weeks...
